Our Ministries

The opportunities for spiritual growth are open to all. You will meet many members of Calvary, but also those seeking a closer walk with God who are not part of the Calvary Church Family. If one of the ministries looks good to you or looks good for a member of your family, please come! If you would like further information before your first visit, call (712)737-2797. Someone will be happy to take you so you don't have to go alone.

  Nursery

nurseryFrom the very beginning of life, Calvary cares about your child. We consider each boy and girl to be a gift from God, so they deserve our special care. Infants and toddlers each are welcomed to the nursery in the lower level of the church building for the morning and evening services. If your infant or toddler needs you during the worship service, someone will come for you.

  Children's Worship

childrens worshipIn the morning worships twice a month, children ages 3 through pre-Kindergarten are invited to participate in Children's Worship. The main purpose of Children's Worship is to lead the younger members of Calvary in a meaningful worship service at their own developmental level. We try to instill in them the importance of finding a quiet place within themselves to sit still and listen to what God is trying to tell them through the Bible, the pastor, Sunday school teachers, and many others. The goal is to make them understand how exciting and special attending church is, but also how God wants us to be in His house and why we do the things we do in each service. We pray that each one will have learned the importance of reverence and respect in God's house, listening carefully to His teaching, and that we can have great fun praising HIm through songs and fellowship with others at church.

  Sunday School & Catechism

sunday schoolSunday School begins right out of nursery. We have classes from beginners to pre-schoolers right through 6th grade, and 7th grade through seniors in high school attend catechism classes. Our classes are small enough for each teacher to personally know and care about your child. We strive to have each child grow in their knowledge and love of the Lord.

  Cadets

This is our ministry to the boys of Calvary Church along with their friends and neighbors. Cadets are Christian "Boy Scouts." In a Christian atmosphere, boys are guided to maturity by Christian men who model Christ in their living. Cadets learn both Biblical and practical skills that boys enjoy. Cadets is for boys from 4th to 8th grade. There is also opportunity for older boys to participate as junior counselors. It meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday nights of each month throughout the school year. www.calvinistcadets.org

  GEMS-Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior

This is our ministry to the girls of Calvary Church and their friends and neighbors. GEMS is a Christian "Girl Scouts." Like Cadets, mature Christian women guide and nurture girls to Christian responsibility as adults. The girls have both Bible lessons and crafts geared towards their age and interest. GEMS concludes with "Finishing Touches", a course which helps girls evaluate true Christian beauty in contrast to the world's view of beauty. GEMS ministers to girls from 2nd through 8th grade. It meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday nights of each month throughout the school year. www.gemsgc.org

  Youth Unlimited

youth unlimitedThis is our co-ed ministry to high school students which meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday evenings each month. They are role models for young people as they move through the high school years. Through Youth Unlimited (YU), there are many opportunities for Christian service from day projects in Orange City and surrounding communities to week long service with SERVE in other parts of the country. The youth also have the opportunity to attend the annual Youth Convention in August, a gathering of several thousand young people who go to worship, learn, and be challenged to live the Christian life. www.youthunlimited.org
